Funbi Sarras

Qualified, experienced and committed to you

Qualifications and associations

My relevant qualifications include:
An MA in Integrative Psychotherapy;
A DipHE in Counselling and Theology;
A DipPsych (Bachelors Level) in Psychology;

A Diploma in Shiatsu (and further training in Sei-ki with Alice Whieldon);

and I am in the final stages of doctoral studies in counselling psychology

I am a registered accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, MBACP (Accred) and a member of the British Psychological Society, GMBPsS. I am also a member of the Shiatsu Society, MrSS, and the Society for Existential Analysis.

My formal training in psychology and then as an integrative psychotherapist and shiatsu practitioner covered various philosophies about the human condition and how to provide effective support through life's challenges by appropriately integrating therapeutic methods. My approach, therefore, incorporates some of the following schools of thought:

  • Humanistic, existential-phenomenological philosophies - working with relating collaboratively at depth

  • Cognitive behavioural approaches - working analytically with behaviours

  • Existential psychodynamics - working with the existential nature of internal conflicts and paradox

  • Japanese healing arts of Shiatsu and Sei-ki - working with the body and breath

Since seeing my first client in 2010, I have worked with many people, as unique as you are; in this I have found that the best way to make my training count is to be prepared and open to meeting you as you are. Working with me is, essentially, taking the opportunity to honestly engage with the core of what niggles or seriously disrupts your life, and making a lasting transformation - individually or relationally.

Alongside running my private practice, I have worked in specialist services for survivors of incest and sexual abuse, university undergraduate and post graduate students and various charities serving local communities.
